What to Expect

Prior to your appointment, you will be asked to fill out an intake form to identify your primary complaints, medical history, and treatment objectives. We will begin your initial wellness consultation by reviewing your intake form and assessing your condition using classical Chinese diagnostic methods, including observing the pulse and tongue and palpating the organs. These evaluations lay the foundation for your personalized treatment plan.

Wellness Consultation & Qigong

30 minute treatment with Wei Bertram, Arogya Founding Director & Holistic Consultant

Your treatment will begin with an in-depth review of your health history, a physical examination, and qigong exercises.

Five-Element Theory is a fundamental part of our Wellness Consultation. This traditional Chinese diagnostic framework associates each element (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) with specific organs, emotions, and life aspects. By evaluating your physical symptoms, emotional state, and lifestyle, we can identify imbalances in your Qi (vital energy) and create a personalized plan to restore harmony.

Additional treatments may include:

  • Acupressure & Reflexology

  • Lifestyle Recommendations

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

60 minute treatment with one of our Licensed Therapists

Manual lymphatic drainage is a gentle yet effective treatment to support your overall well-being. This specialized massage technique can help address the underlying causes of many health issues, including chronic pain, fatigue, and inflammation.

Our therapists will use light, rhythmic strokes to promote lymphatic function, improve circulation, and support natural detoxification. The light pressure, combined with the repetitive nature of the strokes, creates a deeply relaxing and peaceful experience.

Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine

60 minute treatment with Gregor Bertram, Licensed Acupuncturist & Herbalist

Our acupuncturist will select specific acupuncture points to address your primary concerns. Once the needles are in place, we will leave you to rest for 20-30 minutes as the treatment takes effect.

Everyone experiences acupuncture differently, but most of our patients report feeling calm and sleepy during their session. Learn more about what to expect by reading our FAQs.

Wellness Intensive FAQs

  • Call us at (203) 226-2682 or send an email to info@arogya.net and we will be happy to find a time that works for you!

  • Refrain from eating a large meal before or after your visit. Wear clothing that is loose and comfortable. If you are coming from work, please feel welcome to bring a change of clothes and you can change clothing here prior to your visit. Please do not consume alcohol or recreational drugs prior to your visit as they may affect your ability to assess the treatment.

  • You should expect your acupuncture session to be a very relaxing and pain-free experience. Acupuncture needles are in no way similar to needles from a shot or an injection. Most acupuncture needles are up to 100 times smaller than the typical medical syringe and do not feel painful when they are inserted.

It is normal to feel a slight pinch as the needles are tapped in. Acupuncture needles are fine and flexible and no thicker than a strand of hair. A slight ache or heaviness near the needle placement is normal and indicative that the body is engaging productively and that energy in your body is being activated. If you experience any prolonged pinching, burning, or sharpness, please let your practitioner know so that the placement of the needle can be adjusted.

For the most part, patients feel calm and sleepy when the needles are in place. Some report feeling either heavier or lighter and many fall asleep during treatment.

  • Lymphatic drainage stands apart from other massage techniques because it requires very light pressure. The lymphatic system resides just beneath the skin’s surface, and excessive pressure can damage its delicate and intricate network of vessels and nodes. The light pressure, combined with the repetitive, rhythmic nature of the strokes, should create a deeply relaxing and peaceful experience, leaving you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

  • There is ample parking in downtown Westport. Many of our clients will park on the Post Road, Church Lane, or in the public parking lot behind the Bank of America.
